A cat suddenly avoiding the litter box for solid waste is frustrating, but it is almost always a sign of a specific, identifiable problem rather than spite or stubbornness, both of which are not really concepts that apply to feline motivation.
Medical causes to rule out first
Constipation, diarrhoea, intestinal parasites or arthritis affecting a cat's ability to comfortably climb into the box can all lead to accidents outside it. Because a health issue is common enough to be the actual cause, a sudden change in litter box habits is always worth a vet visit before assuming it is purely behavioural.
Litter box problems
Not enough boxes: the general guideline is one litter box per cat plus one extra, particularly important in multi-cat Indian households
A dirty box: cats are notably particular about cleanliness and may refuse a box that has not been scooped recently
The wrong litter type or depth: switching brands or textures suddenly can put some cats off entirely
A box that is too small, too covered, or placed somewhere noisy or hard to access, such as behind a washing machine
Stress and territory
A new pet, a new baby, houseguests, building work nearby, or even rearranged furniture can all disrupt a cat's sense of a stable, safe environment enough to trigger avoidance of the box. In multi-cat homes, one cat guarding or ambushing another near the litter box is a common, easy-to-miss trigger, since the victim cat may start avoiding the area entirely rather than risk a confrontation.
What helps
Cleaning any soiled area thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner, rather than a standard household cleaner, removes the scent trail that might draw a cat back to the same spot. Increasing the number and spread of litter boxes, placing them in quiet, easily accessible locations, and keeping the litter type consistent all address the most common causes. If accidents continue despite these changes and a vet has ruled out a medical cause, a certified veterinary behaviourist can help identify triggers that are not obvious from the outside.

A swollen eye looks alarming, and it should get your attention quickly. The eyelid, the eyeball itself, or the tissue around the eye can all swell for very different reasons, so working out which one
Most cats never need their claws trimmed at all, and clipping can even work against them, since cats rely on their claws for both defence and climbing. As cats age and become less mobile, though, claw
